The certified result sits just above the 50% line that decides whether voters get a November runoff.

The Supervisor race shows nearly four times the no‑recorded‑vote rate of the school bond on the same ballot.

Why This Recount Matters
A close and unusual result
American democracy rests on two principles that should not be partisan: every eligible voter's ballot should be read accurately, and close or structurally unusual results should be open to public verification.
A Lawful Process
Under California Elections Code section 15620, any registered voter may request a recount within five days of certification. We are using the tools the law already gives us.
The Numbers Raise Questions
Almost one in seven ballots showed no recorded vote in the Supervisor race, far more than the roughly 47‑vote margin that decided it above the 50% line.
Only Paper Can Tell
We do not know these ballots were left blank. We know only that the machines counted them that way. The one way to tell the difference is to examine the paper by hand.
Either Way, We Gain
If the count confirms the result, the winner gains verified legitimacy. If it reveals scanner or ballot issues, we can fix them before the next election.
