The District 5 Supervisor Election Recount
The race was certified at 50.27%—just 46 votes above the majority line. Yet 2,999 ballots—15.01%, roughly 1 in 7—recorded no vote for Supervisor. We owe it to our community to make sure every vote is counted.

Limeta certified at 8,539 votes—just 46 above the 8,492.5 majority line. Fewer votes than the undervotes.

California law allows a hand recount so we can verify the results and strengthen confidence in our elections.
Recount in Progress
1. RECOUNT REQUESTED
Formal request submitted to the Registrar within the 5-day statutory deadline.
2. DEPOSIT PAID
Under Cal. Elections Code §15620, the requester pre-funds each day of counting.
3. HAND COUNT
Highest-undervote precincts first: 50606, 51207, 50605—examined by hand in public view.
4. RESULTS VERIFIED
The hand count will confirm the results—or reveal issues that need to be fixed.
5. COMMUNITY CONFIDENCE
Either way, our community gains transparency and stronger future elections.
What We Know
The equipment, not the voters.
In-person Vote Center ballots undervoted Supervisor 18.87% of the time vs. 14.71% for mailed ballots—and ran higher in 7 of 8 precincts. Same voters, different scanning path.
Unanswered questions deserve answers.
The county ran only the mandatory 1% manual tally, certified the bare majority, and left the anomaly unexplained.
This isn’t about accusations.
It’s about using the tools the law provides to ensure accuracy, transparency, and trust.
The Goal
If the result is confirmed:
Supervisor-elect Limeta earns a victory that has been tested and verified.
If issues are found:
A hand review would need to recover roughly 93–116 valid non-Limeta votes to drop her below 50%—and we fix the system for every close race that follows.
Support the Recount
Every dollar goes into a segregated recount fund used only for daily deposits to the Registrar, expert oversight of the ballot data, and public reporting of the findings.
